Smooth Acorn

5" long, 2 1/2" tall, 3/4" bore and 1.8" stroke. 46g. Handcut vulcanite stem with Delrin tenon, natural horn floc. A deep, capacious pipe.
 
We all have our favorites; if I had to pick a desert island pipe among my own pipes, it would be one about like this that I made years ago. To me, this is the best shape in the hand, like a river stone. I like bent pipes; this shape carries its bend with relaxed drilling angles and very little superfluous wood and cantilevers perfectly on my chin. The shape is in harmony with the bowl, allowing relatively thick walls of nearly equal thickness at all points. I could go on, but when I realized that I hadn't made one of these in some time, the only question was, "Why not?"
